The Sportscasting class provides the
basic framework needed to begin developing the “on-air”
skills needed to become a professional sports announcer.
Areas covered in the class include live
play-by-play announcing, sports reporting, sports anchoring, and
talk show hosting. Instructions for both radio and television
sports productions are incorporated into this class.
As part of this class students will
have their work aired on both the student run radio station WRFP
and TV
Piedmont
Dr. Van Cantfort has over 20 years
of experience in play-by-play sportscasting. He has provided
the radio, play-by-play description of over 1,000 high school
and college football, basketball and baseball games. His radio
experience also includes serving as the producer/anchor for
a daily, local, sports report. In addition, he has been involved
in the production of the live telecasts of such sporting events
as Atlanta Falcons football and WCT Tennis tournaments.
