SPORTSCASTING

  • The Sportscasting class provides the basic framework needed to begin developing the “on-air” skills needed to become a professional sports announcer.
  • Areas covered in the class include live play-by-play announcing, sports reporting, sports anchoring, and talk show hosting. Instructions for both radio and television sports productions are incorporated into this class.
  • As part of this class students will have their work aired on both the student run radio station WRFP and TV Piedmont

Professor Dale VanCantfort

 

  • Sportscasting

    Dr. Van Cantfort has over 20 years of experience in play-by-play sportscasting. He has provided the radio, play-by-play description of over 1,000 high school and college football, basketball and baseball games. His radio experience also includes serving as the producer/anchor for a daily, local, sports report. In addition, he has been involved in the production of the live telecasts of such sporting events as Atlanta Falcons football and WCT Tennis tournaments.
