Since the spring of 2003 the Mass Communications
Department at Piedmont College has had its own chapter of the Society
for Collegiate Journalists. SCJ is the nation's oldest honorary
society for collegiate mass communication students.
Seven students were inducted into our first
class. Each spring, mass communications majors who have earned at
least 60 hours and have maintained a cumulative grade point average
of 3.3 or above will be considered for induction into the SCJ.
Schedule
New members are inducted into the Society
for Collegiate Journalists at the departmental awards ceremony every
April.
Membership
Criteria
1. Have earned a minimum of 60 hours of collegiate
academic credit. At least 30 of the earned hours must have been earned
at Piedmont College.
2. Be a full-time student at Piedmont College and have declared either
a major or minor in Mass Communications.
3. Have a current overall G.P.A. of 3.3 or higher.
4. Have demonstrated significant contributions to the Mass Communications
Department.
5. Be approved by the entire Mass Communications Faculty.
