Since
its founding in 1887, the Georgia Press Association has "protected,
promoted, fostered and advanced the interests of the newspaper
industry of Georgia." The association is comprised of virtually
every major paper in the state from rural weeklies to the largest
metropolitan dailies.
For
more than 50 years, the GPA has supported journalism education
through the Georgia Collegiate Press Association, scholarship
programs, student internships, and educational programs and workshops.
Since
its inception, the communications program at Piedmont has been
proud to be a part of the GPA by hosting professional workshops,
having students and faculty attend GPA sponsored meetings, and
holding leadership roles by our students in the GCPA. The GPA
is an important partner with Piedmont in providing professional
training to our students
Ashley Seale and Brandon Ridgway attend
the Georgia Press Association workshop held at Piedmont College.
