Internships

Internships provide students with the opportunity to gain practical experience in the mass communications and graphic design fields. Internships provide valuable experience for students before they graduate from college. Students sign up for a three credit-hour course to participate in their internship. Piedmont students have interned across the state, nation and throughout the world.

At WNEG Newchannel 32, students have been able to get hands on experience working at a small television station. Students' work has been seen on Friday Night Under the Lights.

  AJC Students have worked in many different departments at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Many students have had work published in the AJC on multiple occasions.

At Channel 2 in Atlanta, students have assisted with both news and sports. In the past, students have worked on productions of NFL football games.

92.9 Dave FM Radio


  Dave FM Radio Multiple students have interned at 92.9 Dave FM, an alternative rock radio station in metro Atlanta. These students have produced promotions that were broadcast on-air.

The Food Network Studios in New York City has been an invaluable job for at least one student. Students have had jobs including production assistant.

104.7 The Fish Radio


  The Fish The Fish 104.7 FM is a Christian Rock station out of Atlanta where students have interned, learning to perform the day-to-day responsibilities of radio broadcasting.

At Star 94 FM, a pop music station, students have produced advertisements, traffic and weather, on-air promotions and radio programming duties.

The Clayton Tribune


  Clayton Tribune Students who intern at the Clayton Tribune have reported on stories in and around the Rabun County area in the Northeast corner of Georgia.

National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences


  NATAS The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS), the controlling body for the Emmy's, has employed interns to assist with voting on regional Emmy's.

Students have worked with the National Association of Television Program Executives (NATPE) in Las Vegas for the past two years to assist with the annual conferences.

  The Gainesville Times At the Gainesville Times, in Hall County, GA, interns have reported on events around Lake Lanier and Hall County. Students' work has been featured on the front page.

Students have interned with most of the newspapers Community Newspapers, Inc represents as well as at the CNI headquarters with overall promotions

  CNN Espanol Interns at CNN Espanol have worked with many different aspects of television and radio production. Students have acted as editors, producers, and even on-air producers
 

Alltel Cable Channel 4


Alltel Cable Channel 4 is the local access channel in the Habersham County area. Many students have had work aired on the staion or have worked on productions with community groups.

  Access North Georgia Students have produced much content for the Access North Georgia Web site as well as the newspapers that Access North Georgia serves. In the past, students have been crucial in covering local sporting events.
 

Radio Que Buena 101.9 FM


Radio Que Buena is one of Atlanta's Spanish radio stations, and one of many stations where Piedmont students have interned. Some students have been traffic and weather reporters in the past.

  WNEG Radio At WNEG-AM in Toccoa, students have been on-air personalities in the lat-night radio shows. In the past, students have also produced originally programming that has aired on the station.
 

International Radio and Television Society Foundation, Inc


The International Radio and Television Society Foundation sponsors students to intern in New York City at various media companies. Students have gone on to get jobs through those internships.

Lake Lanier Islands Public Relations Department


  Lake Lanier Islands Students have worked at Lake Lanier Islands in the public relations and advertising departments producing documents that have been distributed across the Southeastern United States.
 

WCON Radio 99.3 FM 1450 AM


WCON radio has been home to many students. Many times, weekend programming is coordinated by Piedmont students or alumni.

Anything Weather Inc.  


  Anything Weather Students have traveled to the Midwest to participate in storm chasing experiences with Anything Weather, Inc. The weeklong internship teaches students about production and meterology.
 

Vanco Productions (Jacksonville Jaguars NFL)


Vanco Productions holds the contract to produce the preseason games of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Every year, Piedmont sends students to Florida to assist with the live production of the NFL game.

  CMS Custom Media Services is an audio/visual engineering company in Atlanta where students have worked across the nation in designing and installing broadcast-level studios
