LA101: Introduction to the
Liberal Arts (3 Hours)
COURSE DESCRIPTION: In this discussion-oriented course, students
read materials representing the liberal arts disciplines. Class
discussions and essays develop skills in rational debate, foster
critical and analytical thinking skills, and enhance written and
oral skills. Class requirements also include completion of college
orientation assignments.

Assistant Professor of Mass Communications
Professor
Simon joined the faculty after 15 years with CNN in Atlanta. She
held various positions including overseeing the editorial content
of CNN Headline News where she managed a staff of 40 editors, writers
and researchers. She received her undergraduate degree in Radio,
TV and Film from Northwestern University and her master’s
degree in communications from Stanford University. She teaches classes in writing for print and broadcast media, community journalism, copyediting, and special topics like sports writing and documentary filmmaking. |
