Why Do I Debate:
Debating with the Piedmont College team has been an amazing experience and I have truly loved it. I have learned so much about debating and how to become a better speaker. These past two years have taught me about many things including political and social controversies. I had the opportunity to attend Circle of Hope which is a battered women's shelter. This experience taught me so much about how to treat people who have come from rough homes. I have more compassion for people after that experience and it all started with a trip for the debate team. I have truly loved working with the other debaters on the team and I can't wait to see what the next year will bring!

My Best Debate Experience So Far:
My favorite experience was the moment I won my first debate round! The entire round was extremely intense and my partner and I were neck to neck with the opposing team. I thought we had lost the round by the final speech, but the judge announced that we had won! My partner and I were so excited and I was so encouraged. This was the first time that I felt comfortable with the material and that I understood the entire process. Winning that round encouraged me so much and my partner and I went on to win many more rounds!
