Why Do I Debate:
I've always been detail oriented. In discussions, I always remember small key points and never say anything self-incriminating. This could add to my effectiveness as a debater. I joined the Debate Team because I have several friends who love the challenge and experience of traveling to other cities to watch or participate in various tournaments. I was first exposed to the world of debate in 2005 during Dr. Moss' public speaking class. I will admit that I was intimidated be the fast speech at first (and frustrated that I couldn't do that cool little pen spinning trick!) but after some thought I joined Piedmont's Debate Team in 2007, much to the joy of Dr. Moss

My Best Debate Experience So Far:
I am currently a novice debater with no debate experience outside of the classroom. However, I do look forward to my first tournament coming up on February 23rd at Georgia State. I will be competing with my partner Jerisa Pierce and with the guidance of the great Dr. Moss, we hope to possibly take home a win.
Earlier this year, Dr. Moss and the Debate Team visited the campus of West Georgia to watch a varsity tournament. We did not compete in the tournament but I did learn a lot about the feel and flow of a real debate competition (and a thing or two about practical jokes as well).
