Why Do I Debate:
I believe that most people that join debate do it for 3 main reasons; it may have an impact on their future career, they enjoy a competitive atmosphere, or they enjoy voicing their opinions and an effective rebuttal in order to they see both sides of the problem at hand.  For me it was a mix of all three.  I plan on graduating from Piedmont and then pursuing a law degree. I believe that debate has an active role throughout the law community.  I also enjoy a good argument and I am all about competition.  This led me to debate.  I have no regrets about joining debate and it has been a great experience for me.

My Best Debate Experience So Far:

My first great experience in the debate community was my first debate trip.  On my first debate trip, I was lucky enough to travel to Nashville, Tennessee.  The team took a trip to Vanderbilt University.  It was a blast.  I will admit that the trip as a whole can get stressful but it is well worth it.  I was unable to debate this trip because my partner was unable to go but I learned so much about debate and it made me want to debate even more. During the trip, I was able to sit in on a few debates and talk to the coaches about debate.  This was great because both the coach and assistant coach are very willing to help in any way to help in order to make your experience better and to help you understand what is going on. Debate has been great and I can not wait until this summer and the coming semesters.
