Neighborhood Grant Program
For students who have been out of school for a while and think that a college diploma is beyond reach, Piedmont College has a financial aid program that could put them back on the path to earning a bachelor’s degree.
For qualified students who live in the eight counties around the Piedmont campus in Demorest, the Neighborhood Grant Program will provide 50-percent tuition grants.
To qualify, applicants must live in Habersham, Stephens, White, Banks, Franklin, Jackson, Rabun, Hall or Towns counties. They must be at least 25 years old and seeking their first bachelor’s degree as commuting students attending Piedmont’s main campus in Demorest.
Since most students also are eligible for financial aid from state and federal programs, many who qualify for the Neighborhood Grant Program can enroll without incurring student loans.
The program is designed for students regardless of how many hours of college coursework they have already completed. You can be a freshman taking your first class, or you can transfer credits from previous college work. You can also be enrolled in Piedmont's day or evening classes, and you can be a full-time student or just attend part time.
The number of students receiving grants is based on available funds, so interested students should apply a soon as possible. The application and registration process has been streamlined to make it easier for working students to enroll.
