Wood’s most prominent highlight as coach came during the 2003-2004 season when his men’s team was ranked as high as 23rd nationally in NCAA Division-III and earned the school’s first-ever berth in the Division-III National Tournament.

Wood also coached participants in the Division-III men’s singles championship in 2004 and 2005 and men’s doubles championship in 2005. In addition, Wood’s players earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-America honors in singles in 2003-2004 and 2004-2005. The National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) also awarded Piedmont players with first-team All-America accolades in singles and doubles in 2001-2002 and 2002-2003.

Wood was also a member of the Atlantic-South Regional Advisory Committee for NCAA Division-III men’s tennis. Wood earned his bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Georgia in 1998 and went to complete his master’s degree in Public Administration from Piedmont in 2004.
