Standings - Through 2011 Fall Season
2011-2012 Fall Season Recap
Oglethorpe University holds nearly a three stroke lead (2.918) over
2011 champion Emory University at the halfway point of the race for
the Georgia Cup trophy. Through 22 adjusted rounds the Stormy
Petrels have an adjusted scoring average of 299.182 after their fall
season. Emory averages 302.100 and LaGrange College (303.560) is in
third place nearly 4.5 strokes back of Oglethorpe. Berry, Piedmont
and Covenant Colleges round out the six schools in order of their
fall season finish.
Individually, Emory senior Ryan Dagerman leads the scoring with an
impressive 72.650 average about a half stroke ahead of reigning
Player of the Year senior Hudson Keener of LaGrange. Oglethorpe
freshman Anthony Maccaglia at 73.818 is about one stroke off the
pace set by Dagerman.
The Georgia Cup was contested over eight tournaments through the
2011 fall season. The season kicked off in September with the
Piedmont College Fall Invitational and Tunica National Fall
Invitational near Memphis. Berry College’s Chick-Fil-A Collegiate
hosted at Coosa Country Club was a heavily weighted tournament. The
Royal Lakes Fall Invitational hosted by Oglethorpe was the fall
season's most weighted event as it was weighted times four for both
the individual and team event.
Looking ahead to the spring season the Georgia Cup will be contested
over eight more tournaments from March through mid April. In the
month of March the Georgia Cup will feature the Wynlakes/Huntingdon
College tournament, Berry College’s event at Stonebridge in Rome,
Piedmont College’s Spring Invitational and the Jekyll Island
Collegiate. In early April both the Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate and
Covenant’s Lookout Mountain events lead into the season’s finale at
Emory University’s Druid Hills event. |
