Men's Basketball Player Jake Baldwin Surpasses 1,000 Point Plateau

Piedmont College men's basketball player Jake Baldwin netted his 1,000th career point last week in the Lions' 73-67 loss to #15 Averett University. The junior forward becomes the first men's basketball player in the NCAA-era to reach the milestone.

Baldwin scored a game-high 20 points in the loss with his 1,000th career point coming on a jumpshot with 1:23 remaining in the first half.

Through nine games, Baldwin is the Lions' leading scorer averaging 25.9 points per game. He scored a record 42 points in Piedmont's overtime victory over Wesley College at the Roger Taylor Invitational on December 1st. The 42 points was a career, tournament, and school record.

Baldwin was voted the Great South Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year and 2nd team All-Conference after leading the team with a 15.0 points per game average. His sophomore year saw him earn a spot on the first team All-Conference after netting 16.2 points per game.

This season Baldwin has been honored as the GSAC Player of the Week and earned a spot on the D3Hoops.com National Team of the Week on December 6th.
