Stephen Andrew Named Head Women's Soccer Coach At Huntingdon College

Piedmont College assistant men's and women's soccer coach Stephen Andrew has been named the head women's soccer coach at fellow Great South Athletic Conference member Huntingdon College in Montgomery, AL. The former PC standout takes over as HC's head coach after being a part of the Piedmont College soccer program for the past seven years.

Andrew hails from Falkirk, Scotland and just completed his third year as an assistant coach for the Piedmont College soccer program on the heels of a stellar playing career for the Lions.

“I feel very confident in the addition of Stephen as women’s soccer coach,” Huntingdon College Athletic Director Buzz Phillips said. “He is coming from a great program in Piedmont College and was responsible for a large share of their recruiting. He has a great recruiting network throughout the southeast and I am excited to add him to the staff.”

In his three years as an assistant coach at Piedmont, the Lions captured one GSAC Championship and earned Runner-Up in another season, while the Lady Lions posted a pair of second-place finishes in the conference.

Andrew was responsible for designing and organizing direct training programs, scheduling matches, purchasing equipment and supplies, and monitoring the academic performance of student athletes. He also played an integral role in the recruiting process.

In addition to his work with Piedmont, Andrew also spent the past four seasons coaching in the Lanier Soccer Association, where he was responsible for the technical and tactical development of players.

As a player, Andrew was a four-year starter at Piedmont College from 2000-2003 and is the all-time goal scorer in Piedmont’s history with a career total of 114 goals. He was Great South Athletic Conference Player of the Year and an All-Conference member four times.

Andrew was also the NCCAA South Region Player of the Year and All-Region team and All-American team four times. He led the Lions to the school’s first ever NCCAA Division-III postseason in 2003 in the first year of eligibility and advanced to the Sweet 16.

“This is a great opportunity,” Andrew said. “For a young coach to take over a program in a rebuilding stage will be a great challenge. I am excited about the opportunity and look forward to competing in the Great South Athletic Conference.

Andrew earned his undergraduate degree in Sports Marketing from Piedmont College in 2004 and just completed his master’s degree in Business Administration.
