Oglethorpe Downs Women's Basketball Team
After starting the game with an 11-0 run the Stormy Petrels of Oglethorpe
University were ungracious hosts and snapped the four-game winning streak
of visiting Piedmont College tonight in Atlanta, GA by the score of
96-78. The Lady Lions never led and trailed by as many as 22 points
in the defeat, their first since November 25th.
In addition to shooting
47% from the field, OU's defense was too much for Piedmont as the Stormy
Petrels forced 27 turnovers including 16 steals.
Nikki Sosebee led
the way for Piedmont narrowly missing a double-double with 17 points
and nine rebounds. Sheena Trimiar, Beth Adcock and Yetta Bailey chipped-in
with 15 points apiece while Stephanie Rainwater added eight points.
The loss drops PC
to 5-4 overall on the season. The Lady Lions will return to action again
after the winter break on Wednesday, January 3rd as they resume Great
South Athletic Conference action against visiting Spelman College in
Cave Arena beginning at 5:00.
