Men's Basketball Team's Rally Falls Short In 95-90 Loss At Oglethorpe
The Piedmont College men's basketball team rallied from a 14-point halftime
deficit but eventually came up on the short end of a 95-90 non-conference
loss at Oglethorpe University this evening in Atlanta, GA. The loss
drops Piedmont to 3-4 overall on the season.
Piedmont jumped out of the gates hot and held a 21-11 lead seven minutes
into the contest. OU would respond with a 27-7 run over the next four
minutes to take a 10-point lead of their own. Another PC rally would
cut the lead to two with just over six minutes remaining only to see
the Stormy Petrels finish the half with a 17-4 run.
After trailing 63-49 at intermission, PC used an 8-0 run early in the
half and eventually battled back to take a 84-83 lead with 4:50 remaining.
A pair of free throws by Jake Green with 1:52 remaining gave the Lions
their final lead of the contest as OU would score the game's final six
points including a crucial go-ahead three-pointer by Andrew Tulowitsky
with just over a minute to play.
PC's Jake Baldwin led all scorers with a game-high 22 points to go along
with seven rebounds. Whitlock added 18 points and a game-best eight
rebounds while Green added 12 points and seven assists despite an early
game injury. Mike Adams added 17 points and five assists for Piedmont.
Piedmont will return to action this weekend when the Lions host the
Piedmont College Holiday Round-Robin at Toccoa Falls College in Toccoa,
GA. PC will take on Rust College on Friday, December 8th before finishing
the fall semester with a matchup versus 20th-ranked Averett University
on Sunday, December 10th.
