Piedmont Soccer Players Named All-American by D3Kicks.com
Piedmont
College soccer players Drew Griffin and Katie Porter have been named
All-Americans by D3Kicks.com as released this afternoon by the national
website. Griffin was voted both a third team All-American and first
team All-Region selection while Porter garnered second team All-American
and first team All-Region status.
Joining Griffin on the All-Region was teammate George Sandi who landed
on the third team All-Region. Porter was the only freshman named to
the women's All-American team.
This season Griffin was voted the Great South Athletic Conference Player
of the Year and Tournament Most Valuable Player. He tallied 30 goals
which was almost 50% of the teams total goals scored. In the final NCAA
Division-III national rankings, Griffin netted the nation's most goals
per game (1.8) and was the nation's second leading scorer with 30 goals.
Porter was named the GSAC Freshman of the Year as she netted 31 goals
which was 47% of the team's total for goals scored. In the final NCAA
Division-III national rankings, she was the nation's second leading
scorer with 31 goals on the year.
