In a game that featured nine lead changes, the Piedmont College women's
basketball team fell to visiting Emory University tonight in Cave Arena
by the score of 75-70. The Lady Lions placed five different players
in double-figures but when the potential game-tying three-pointer fell
short Emory was able to come away with the five-point victory.
Kayla Duncan and
Yetta Bailey led the way for PC with 14 points respectively. Nikki Sosebee
and Lisa Jennings chipped in with 11 points apiece while Sheena Trimiar
added 10 points. The women shot an impressive 54% from the field for
the game but lost the turnover and rebounds margins by four each.
Duncan and Sosebee
combined for 14 rebounds while Beth Adcock added five assists and three
blocks. The Lady Lions were only able to reach the charity stripe nine
times in the game compared to the Eagles' 20 attempts.
The loss drops Piedmont
to 1-2 overall on the young season. The women will travel to Fayetteville,
NC this weekend for the Methodist University Turkey Shootout and will
face tournament host Methodist on Saturday, November 25th starting at
8:00.
