Women's Basketball Team Falls In Season-Opener

The Piedmont College women's basketball team opened the 2006-07 season
tonight with a 69-63 loss to Middlebury College in the Amherst College
Tip-Off Classic in Amherst, MA. The Lady Lions carried a three-point
edge into halftime but could not keep up with the Middlebury offense
who rallied to win the second half by nine points.
In the opening half
Piedmont was impressive shooting 46% from the field but cooled off in
the second half notching only 35% from the field. Middlebury capitilized
on fouls shooting 85% from the charity stripe and making 10 more free
throws than Piedmont.
Junior Nikki Sosebee
recorded her first double-double of the season gaining 21 points and
13 rebounds, both game-highs. Beth Adcock notched 12 points and a game-high
four assists while Yetta Bailey and Kayla Duncan chipped-in with 11
and 10 points respectively.
The Lady Lions will
look to reboundtomorrow as they square-off against tournament host Amherst
College beginning at 4:00.
