PC Volleyball Team Splits Pair Of Non-Conference Matches
In
a non-conference doubleheader this evening the Piedmont College volleyball
team fell to host Brenau University 26-30, 26-30, 30-28 and 26-30 but
rebounded to overcome Oglethorpe University in straight sets 30-27,
30-17 and 30-28. Despite having three players reach double-figure kills
against Brenau, the Lady Lions committed 16 return errors and dropped
the four-set decision.
Meghann Clark and
Jacque DeMarrais both recorded 14 kills in the first match and setter
B.J. Ostrzycki recorded 44 assists. Defensively Jill Sparger was impressive
again at the libero position posting 15 digs.
It was all PC against
Oglethorpe in the nightcap as Clark reached double-figures in kills
again with 10 while setter Tyler Baldonado filled in for an injured
Ostrzycki with 33 assists and seven service aces.
The split moves
Piedmont to 16-8 overall. The women will return to the court again this
weekend as the team travels to Maryville College for a GSAC Round-Robin
weekend.
