Volleyball Team Splits Four Matches Against Top Competition At Thomas
More Invitational
The
Piedmont College volleyball team competed in the Thomas More College
Invitational this weekend and came out with a pair of wins against host
Thomas More and Westminster College but dropped a pair of matches to
Christopher Newport University and Capital University. The women needed
all fives games to defeat TMC while needing only three games to defeat
Westminster, currently tied for first place in the Pennsylvania Athletic
Conference.
Jacque DeMarrais
led the Lady Lions with a tournament average of 10.75 kills per match
while B.J. Ostrzycki averaged an even 30 assists per match. On the defensive
side Jill Sparger and Mandi Harmon came up big averaging 15 and 11 digs
per match respectively.
For her efforts
DeMarrais was named to the Thomas More College Invtiational All-Tournament
Team.
The women improve
to 15-7 overall and will return to the court again on Tuesday, October
17th as they travel to Brenau University for a doubleheader featuring
host Brenau and non-conference Oglethorpe University with the first
match slated for 4:00.
