Women's Soccer Team Evens League Record With Victory At LaGrange
Behind a high-powered offense that tallied three first half goals including
the game-winner at the third minute, the Piedmont College women's soccer
team notched their fourth Great South Athletic Conference victory of
the season over host LaGrange College tonight by the score of 4-0. The
Lady Lions stayed on offense for the majority of the game allowing only
five shots on goal and scoring four unanswered goals en route to victory.
Katie Porter struck
the eventual game-winner on an assist from Caitlin Delvasto at the third
minute and Anna Darvish tacked on another goal minutes later on an assist
from Caitlin Hurd. Porter struck again with a minute left in the first
half on with the pass coming from Hurd.
In the second half
Autumn Richardson notched an unassisted goal from long distance to seal
the victory for Piedmont. Goalkeeper Erin Porter was impressive between
the posts notching five saves for her fourth shutout of the season.
The victory moves
PC to 5-7-2 overall and 4-4-1 in the Great South and knocked LaGrange
to 5-6 overall and 4-5 in conference play. The women will return to
action again on Saturday, October 14th as they travel to conference
foe Huntingdon College in Montgomery, AL starting at 1:00 CST.
