For a second consecutive match the Piedmont College women's soccer team
found itself in extra time and played to a 1-1 draw with visiting Great
South Athletic Conference opponent Spelman College tonight at PC's Walker
Field. With regulation not enough to decide a winner the teams played
two ovetime periods and left the field knotted at one goal apiece.
The tie moves Piedmont
to 4-6-2 overall and 3-3-1 in the Great South and moves Spelman to 4-3-1
in both the conference and overall. The Lady Lions will return to action
again on Saturday, October 7th as they face visiting conference foe
Maryville College at Walker Field starting at 2:30.
In the sixth minute
Katie Porter recorded her 15th goal of the season unassisted with a
long shot over the keepers head. Spelman countered at the 22nd minute
on an unassisted goal of their own.
Erin Porter recorded
11 saves between the posts including a pair of crucial overtime stops.
In a clean, hardfought match SC held the shots on goal advantage 12-10
and corner kicks 8-6.
