Women's Soccer Team Falls To Agnes Scott 1-0 In Overtime
In
its fourth overtime match of the season, the Piedmont College women's
soccer team was defeated tonight by visiting Great South Athletic Conference
member Agnes Scott College 1-0 in overtime. In a closely contested defensive
struggle, ASC was able to find the golden goal six minutes into overtime.
The loss drops Piedmont
to 4-6-1 overall and 3-3-0 in GSAC play while Agnes Scott moves to 6-3-0
overall and 5-1-0 in conference matches. The Lady Lions are now 0-3-1
in overtime contests for the season.
With both teams
unwilling to concede shots on goal, Scottie Hannah Scarborough found
a loose ball and converted the game-winner at the 96th minute. Both
teams were able to manage five shots on goal apiece but PC could not
find the back of the net.
Erin Porter was
solid between the posts saving four shots on goal and making two match-preserving
saves with time winding down in the second half. In an extremely physical
match there were 24 combined penalties assesed and four yellow cards
issued.
