Volleyball Team Remains Perfect At Home With Victory Over Oglethorpe
Despite
trailing at least once in every game the Piedmont College volleyball
team defeated visiting non-conference opponent Oglethorpe University
this evening in straight sets 30-26, 30-25 and 30-26 in PC's Johnny
Mize Athletic Center. Freshman Nikki Cole reached double-figure kills
for the fourth time this season and led her teammates with 14 kills.
Jacque DeMarrais
chipped in with 12 kills of her own and setter B.J. Ostrzycki tallied
42 assists improving her season average to 30 assists per match. On
the defensive end libero Jill Sparger and Mandi Harmon combined for
16 digs.
The resilient Lady Lions improve to 9-4 overall this
season and dropped OU to 3-8. The win improves PC to a perfect 2-0 at
home this season and matches the biggest winning streak of the year
at three matches.
The women will return
to the court on Saturday, September 30th as they travel to LaGrange,
GA for a Great South Athletic Conference weekend. The Lady Lions will
face LaGrange College and Huntingdon College on Saturday before squaring
off against Spelman College on Sunday.
