Volleyball Team Falls In GSAC Opener

In their first Great South Athletic Conference match of the season, the Piedmont College volleyball team went on the road and fell to Maryville College 30-23, 30-28 and 30-28. Despite having the lead late in the second and third games the Lady Lions could not find the final points needed to extend the match.

Jacque DeMarrais and Meghann Clark led the squad with nine kills apiece while B.J. Ostrzycki recorded 23 assists. Sarah Lane tallied three solo blocks and five kills and Nikki Cole chipped-in with four kills.

The loss drops PC to 6-4 overall and 0-1 in the Great South Athletic Conference. The Lady Lions will return to action again tomorrow, September 16th as they travel to NCAA Division-III South Region opponent the University of the south in Sewanee, TN with first serve slated for 1:00 CST.
