Women's Soccer Team Falls At Spelman 2-1 In GSAC Opener
In
the first Great South Athletic Conference match of the season, the Piedmont
College women's soccer team was defeated by host Spelman College 2-1
this afternoon in Atlanta, GA. After jumping out to a 1-0 lead, Spelman
was able to knot the game at a goal apiece going into the half and then
found the eventual game-winner at the 66th minute.
Scoring the goal
for PC was Katie Porter who scored at the 39th minute. The goal marked
her team-high seventh of the season and her 16th total offensive point.
The Lady Lions could not hold the lead and were held scoreless for the
final 51 minutes of the match.
The loss drops PC
to 1-3-1 overall and 0-1 in the Great South Athletic Conference. The
Lady Lions will return to action again on Saturday, September 16th in
a 2005 GSAC championship game rematch at Maryville College in Maryville,
TN. Game-time is slated for 1:00.
