Softball Player May Alves Recognized As National NCAA-III Statistical
Leader
The
NCAA is recognizing former Lady Lion softball player May Alves for her
achievement during the 2006 season where she was hit by 18 pitches in
42 total games for a season average of .43 per game. She led the nation
in hit by pitches per game and lead her nearest competitor in total
hit by pitches by four.
Alves helped lead
the PC softball team to their first-ever NCAA postseason appearance
in 2006 and three trips to the NCCAA World Series including a thrid-place
finish in 2006. She was also a member of the 2006 GSAC 1st-Team All-Conference
and All-Academic teams. For the season she hit .405 and lead the team
in RBI's with 37.
