Men's Soccer Team Falls At Nationally-Ranked Emory 3-0
With
steady rain for the duration of the game, the Piedmont College men's
soccer team was shutout by non-conference host Emory University 3-0
this evening in Atlanta, GA. Despite holding the Eagles, currently ranked
ninth nationally and second in the South Region, scoreless for the entire
second-half, the Lions could not rebound from three first-half goals.
EU struck at the
3rd minute with the eventual game-winner and followed it up with a pair
of goals at the 9th and 40th minute. After intermission PC's defense
took over allowing only three shots and no goals, but the offense could
never get much going gaining only two shots on goal.
George Sandi and
Drew Griffin had the best opportunities with a shot on goal each and
Patrick Ratigan tallied four saves.
The loss drops Piedmont to 2-3 overall this season. The Lions will return
to action again on Saturday, September 16th as they begin Great South
Athletic Conference play with a road trip to conference rival Maryville
College with kick-off set for 3:00.
