Women's Soccer Team Drops 3-2 Overtime Decision To Toccoa Falls
In
their second straight overtime match, the Piedmont College women's soccer
team fell to visiting non-conference opponent Toccoa Falls College 3-2.
The game was part of first-round action at the PC Women's Soccer Classic
at Piedmont's Walker Field in Demorest, GA.
PC allowed a pair of goals in the final 22 minutes of regulation and
then the game-winner at the 96th minute in the defeat.
PC took a 1-0 lead
into half thanks to a goal from Casey Lovelady on a pass from Katie
Porter. In the second hald Toccoa Falls tied and took the lead with
goals at the 68th and 71st minutes. Lovelady struck again with the equalizer
at the 82nd minuted knotting the score at 2-2 with the assist going
to Anna Darvish.
In overtime the
Lady Lions could not muster a shot on goal as TFC scored the game-winner
at the 96th minute on an unassisted goal. Despite outshooting their
opponents 9-8 PC could not find the deciding goal during regulation.
Piedmont will look
to rebound tomorrow, September 9th as they face Brenau University in
the final game of the tournament with game-time set for 4:00.
