Host Oglethorpe
Rallies For 6-3 Win Over Men's Soccer Team
In
a high scoring affair the Piedmont College men's soccer team fell to
NCAA Division-III South Region host Oglethorpe University today 6-3
in Atlanta, GA. After both teams scored a single goal in the first half,
Oglethorpe rattled off five goals to the Lions two en route to the victory.
OU struck first
at the 15th minute which was quickly countered by Piedmont at the 20th
minute on Drew Griffin's first goal of the season on a thru ball from
Joey Kreiger. The Lions scored the next two goals of the match in the
second half at the 46th and 49th minute on goals from Jorge Pradillo
and Griffin.
Oglethorpe then
answered by scoring five unanswered goals including the eventual game-winner
which came at the 70th minute. The Lions were outshot 13-9 and allowed
seven corner kicks compared to their three.
The loss drops PC
to 1-1 overall. The Lions will be in action again as they travel to
the Virginia Wesleyan College Blue Marlin/Adidas Classic in Virginia
Beach, VA where they will square-off against the tournament host at
2:00.
