Lions Open Season In Dominating Fashion With 13-0 Victory Over Emmanuel
College

The Piedmont College
women's soccer team opened the 2006 season in dominating fashion with
a 13-0 victory over non-conference visitors Emmanuel College. The Lady
Lions jumped out to a two-goal advantage in the first six minutes and
then added two more first-half goals and nine second-half goals to cruise
to the victory.
Freshman Katie Porter made her Lady Lions
debut with a bang notching four goals and an assist. Missy Hoffman tallied
a pair of goals and assists and Anna Darvish also scored twice. Junior
Jennifer Osborne scored her first career goal and added two assists
while freshman Samantha Graham also recorded her first career goal.
Also scoring single
goals for Piedmont was Jammie Boyce and Mary Ann Alexander and freshman
Casey Lovelady added a pair of assists. Between the posts Michelle Holland
notched her first shutout of the season as the Lady Lions controlled
the game completely outshooting their opponents 32-0.
The victory moves Piedmont to 1-0 overall.
The Lady Lions will return to action again on Monday, September 4th
as they travel to NCAA Division-III South Region opponent Oglethorpe
University in Atlanta, GA with kick-off set for 3:00.
