After falling behind early, the Piedmont College men's soccer team rallied
to defeat visiting non-conference opponent Emmanuel College 5-2 this
evening at PC's Walker Field. By controlling the offense and outshooting
their opponents 16-8, the Lions were able to secure the victory in their
season-opener.
After Emmanuel scored
in the second minute of the game, the Lions quickly answered as freshman
Jeremy Stille notched his first career goal on a diving header sent
in by freshman Jorge Pradillo in the fourth minute. EC scored again
in the sixth minute but the equalizer came in the form of an unassisted
goal from junior Josh Seabrook in the 12th minute and the eventual game-winner
came from senior George Sandi on a pass from Pradillo in the 18th minute.
In the second-half the Lions scored a
pair of insurance goals to seal the victory. Pradillo notched his first-career
goal on a cross from Sandi at the 66th minute and then Seabrook added
his second goal of the night off a pass from freshman Chris Leone at
the 86th minute.
The victory moves
PC to 1-0 overall. The Lions will compete again on Monday, September
4th as they travel to non-conference NCAA Division-III South Region
host Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, GA with game-time slated for
5:00.
