Andy Cartwright
Named Cleveland Golf All-American Scholar
Piedmont College
senior golfer Andy Cartwright was named to the Cleveland Golf All-America
Scholars list for Division-III, which was announced by the Golf Coaches
Association of America on Tuesday. The NGCA All-American honor is one
of only 43 in the entire nation and the first-ever for the Piedmont
College men's golf program.
Cartwright, a native
of Acworth, GA, graduated Cum Laude this semester with a degree in Business
Administration. He carried a career GPA of 3.68 grade point average
and was a four-time Dean's Scholar. Cartwright finished the year with
a team-best 77.3 scoring average and four top-20 finishes.
At the golf team's
annual awards night, Cartwright was voted the team's Low Medalist.
To be eligible for
Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status, an individual must be a junior
or senior academically and competed in at least two full years at the
collegiate level, participate in 70% of his team's competitive rounds,
have a stroke average under 79.0 in Division-III and maintain a minimum
cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. The recipient must also be of
high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university
and come recommended from his school's head coach.
