Team Falls To LaGrange In Season Finale

The Piedmont College baseball team dropped their season finale 6-3 this
afternoon at Loudermilk Field at the hands of visiting Great South Athletic
Conference foe LaGrange College. Prior to the start of the game Stan
Brosko, Luke Dombrowsky, Trey McCay and Blake Thomas were recognized
as the senior class for the 2007 Lions.
LaGrange got on
the board first with a single run in the top of the second. The Panthers
added on a pair of runs in the fourth and sixth innings to take a 5-0
lead. PC rallied in the seventh with a pair of runs and a single run
in the bottom of the ninth but could not get the go-ahead run on base
and dropped the three-run decision.
Travis Hunt led
the offense going 3-5 while Dombrowsky chipped in going 2-3 with a run
scored and an RBI. Seniors McCay and Brosko went 1-3 respectively while
Thomas threw two innings of relief allowing only one earned run with
a strikeout.
The loss moves Piedmont
to a season record of 19-21 overall and 5-4 in the Great South. The
Lions finish in a three-way tie for first place but will be seeded #2
in the upcoming conference tournament due to the tiebreaker. The GSAC
tournament will begin on Friday, April 27th at Maryville College in
Maryville, TN with the Lions facing host Maryville College beginning
at 7:00.
