Team Downs LaGrange 7-3 In GSAC Action
For the second straight day the Piedmont College baseball team defeated
visiting Great South Athletic Conference member LaGrange College this
afternoon at Loudermilk Field by the score of 7-3. The Lions were able
to score seven runs on only seven hits en route to the victory.
After LC got on
the board with a single run in the top of the first Piedmont answered
with three runs in the home half, two of which came off an Evan Nissley
bases loaded double good for two RBI's. The Lions put another three
spot on the board in the second inning and held the lead for the remainder
of the game.
The Panthers notched
single runs in the fifth and sixth but Nissley came through again in
the bottom of the sixth with a two-out RBI single plating Cole Spedale
for an insurance run. Tom Dimitroff nailed the game down throwing the
eighth and ninth facing the minimum with two strikeouts.
Nissley led PC offensively
going 2-4 with three RBI's while four Lions added single hit performances.
Andy Graf picked up the victory going six innings allowing only two
earned runs while striking out four hitters and scattering nine hits.
The victory moves
Piedmont to 19-20 overall and 5-3 in the Great South Athletic Conference.
The Lions will complete the three game series with a chance to win the
GSAC regular-season tomorrow, April 22nd as they face the Panthers beginning
at 2:00.
