Men's Golf Team Finishes Fourth At YHC Spring Invitational
The
Piedmont College men's golf team wrapped up the 2006-2007 season with
a fourth place finish at the Young Harris Invitational held this weekend
at The Ridges Resort in Hayesville, NC. PC's Matt Howell rallied to
finish in a tie for third overall with a tournament-best 76 on the final
day of competition.
Howell finished the 36-hole event with a 158 (82-76) finishing three
shots ahead of teammate Andy Cartwright's 161 (77-84). Cartwright's
77 was tied for the lead at the midway point.
The Lions' team score of 327-330--657 finished just two strokes behind
host YHC for third place.
The conditions were the most difficult of the season for the Lady Lions
as the first day of competition ended with snow showers while the final
day of play was made worse with winds up to 45 miles per hour. Piedmont
was the only team able to complete a four-person team score in the brutal
conditions.
