PC Softball
Team Sweeps GSAC Doubleheader With Agnes Scott
The Piedmont College
softball team earned a pair of Great South Athletic Conference victories
this afternoon at the hands of Agnes Scott College in Decatur, GA by
the scores of 5-2 and 12-1. The Lady Lions pounded out 26 hits while
holding the Scotties to a mere eight hits on the day.
Laura Puckett and
Michelle Broderick both threw complete game victories and allowed only
one earned run apiece in the wins. Michelle Crandall led the offense
going 5-7 with an RBI and a run scored while Emily Maxey chipped-in
going 2-5 with three RBI's.
In the first game
the Lady Lions held a slim 3-2 lead until tacking on an insurance run
in both the fifth and seventh innings. In the second game PC scored
11 unanswered runs in the first three innings to cruise to the run-rule
decision after the fifth.
The Lady Lions now
stand at 16-17 overall and 6-4 in the Great South Athletic Conference.
The women will return to conference play again on Tuesday, April 10th
as they host Spelman College at Walker Field beginning at 5:00.
