Three PC Student-Athletes Honored On GSAC Weekly Honor Roll

Three Piedmont College student-athletes were honored by the Great South Athletic Conference in its weekly honor roll released this morning as they were named the Player of the Week for their respective sports. Baseball player Matt Burgess was voted the league's Pitcher of the Week while Marlene Morris (women's tennis) and Marissa Harding (softball) garnered Player of the Week honors.

Burgess pitched a complete game three-hitter in an 8-0 GSAC win over Huntingdon. He faced only two batters over the minimum, while striking out six and walking one. It was his first win of the season.

Morris defeated Maryville's Lauren Harper 6-4, 6-2 at #2 singles in a tight 5-4 conference loss to the visiting Lady Scots.

Harding, a junior third baseman, went 9-for-15 in four games. She scored eight runs, had eight RBIs, had two doubles and a home run. Harding hit for the cycle in a 28-0 win over the University of the South. She is second on the team and in the GSAC with 28 RBIs for the season. Harding is third in the GSAC with 26 runs scored.
