Men's Basketball Player Jake Baldwin Named NABC All-District

Piedmont College men's basketball player Jake Baldwin has been selected a member of the National Association of Basketball Coaches Association 2nd team All-District as announced today. The All-Region honor is the second for the junior forward as he earned a spot on the D3hoops.com 1st team All-Region team earlier this month.

The NABC announced today the NABC Division-III All-District teams and coaches, recognizing the best men's collegiate basketball student-athletes and coaches in the division. Selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC, these student-athletes represent the finest basketball players across America. The 88 student-athletes, from eight districts, are now eligible for the NABC Division-III All-America teams.

Baldwin led the Lions (13-13) in scoring with a 24.1 points per game average and was the team's top rebounder with 9.0 boards per game. He is currently ranked sixth in all of Division-III in points per game. He is also ranked 36th nationally in overall field goal percentage (58.7%).

Baldwin was voted the Great South Athletic Conference's Co-Player of the Year with Maryville College's Bobby Golden. He was honored as both an All-Conference and All-Academic selection in the league's year-end honor roll. Baldwin was named the league's Player of the Week on three different occasions.

Baldwin earned All-Tournament honors at the USA-South/GSAC Tip-Off Classic at Ferrum College and the Roger Taylor Invitational at NC Wesleyan College where he was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player. He scored a modern-era school record and career best 42 points in the Lions' overtime victory over Wesley (DE) College. Additionally, the junior forward posted 11 double-doubles on the season.

In the Lions' December 10th loss to nationally-ranked Averett, Baldwin netted his 1,000th career point and is currently only 94 points shy of reaching the 1,500 point plateau.

The regional accolades are the first-ever for the PC men's basketball team since becoming a full-fledged NCAA Division-III member in 2003.
