Falls To 11th Ranked Millsaps 4-1
In a neutral site
make-up game the Piedmont College baseball team took on #11 ranked Millsaps
College at Birmingham Southern College in Birmingham, AL and dropped
a 4-1 decision. The Majors scored a pair of runs in the second and third
innings and held on to the lead to earn the three-run victory.
Millsaps notched
five hits including three doubles in the second and third and recorded
the eventual game-winning runs. The Lions rallied in the eight and ninth
but could only muster a single run while leaving four runners on base
in those innings.
Justin Vorherr led
PC's offense going 3-4 with a pair of doubles. Andy House notched the
Lions only run on a sacrifice fly with the bases loaded in the eighth
that drove the rightfielder to the warning track.
Senior Blake Thomas
was impressive going six innings of scoreless relief allowing only three
hits. Cole Spedale went 3-4 with a stolen base and Luke Dombrowsky and
Zac Stein chipped in going 1-3 respectively.
The Lions now stand
at 9-17 overall. The squad will open Great South Athletic Conference
play this Friday, March 30th as they travel to Huntingdon College in
Montgomery, AL with first pitch scheduled for 7:00 CST.
