PC Softball
Team Falls At NCAA Division-II North Greenville
The Piedmont College softball team lost a pair of non-conference
games this afternoon to NCAA Division-II host North Greenville University
in Tigerville, SC by the scores of 11-3 and 6-5. The Lady Lions could
only scratch out nine hits in the doubleheader while committing seven
errors that led to seven unearned runs.
In the first game the Lions were stimmied by Katie Eargle
who went the distance allowing only three runs on two hits. Michelle
Broderick led the offense going 1-2 with an RBI while Megan Day notched
the only other hit for PC. Leah Della Torre and Emily Maxey both chipped-in
with RBI's.
In game two the Lady Lions held a 5-2 lead going into
the bottom of the seventh. North Greenville rallied with four runs assisted
by Piedmont committing an error that lead to two unearned runs being
scored. Maxey led the offense going 4-4 with an RBI while Della Torre
went 1-2 with a run scored and Nicole Payne who drove in a pair of runs.
The losses drop PC to 11-14 overall. The women will
return to action again on Tuesday, March 27th as they host non-conference
Southern Wesleyan University at Walker Field beginning at 2:00.
