Baseball
Team Falls At Emory 6-1
The Piedmont College
baseball team could only scratch out four hits this afternoon in Atlanta,
GA at non-conference host Emory University and fell by the score of
6-1. In a game that featured zero errors by both teams the Eagles pounded
out 13 hits and cruised to the five-run decision.
The Lions got out
to an early lead in the top of the first as Evan Nissley drove in Travis
Hunt for the teams only run. PC held on to the lead until the bottom
of the fifth when Emory notched the eventual game-winning runs on a
two-out RBI double.
The Eagles added
three insurance runs in the seventh and one run in the eighth to cruise
to the victory. Hunt, Nissley, Andy House and Cole Spedale recorded
the only hits offensively for the Lions.
The loss drops Piedmont
to 9-14 overall. These two teams will meet again tomorrow, March 24th
in Demorest, GA as the Lions will play host at Loudermilk Field with
game time set for 3:00.
