LaGrange
Sweeps GSAC Doubleheader From PC Softball Team
It was a tough day
for the offense this afternoon in LaGrange, GA as Great South Athletic
Conference host LaGrange College held the PC softball team at bay allowing
only seven hits and sweeping a doubleheader by the scored of 6-0 and
8-1. The Lady Lions never led and allowed 23 hits in the defeat.
In the first game
Piedmont was blanked by a complete-game effort from Megan Henry who
went the distance notching three strikeouts. The Panthers scored a pair
of runs in the third and then four runs in the bottom of the fourth
to cruise to the six-run victory.
In game two LC struck
with a single run in the first and then exploded for six runs in the
second. The Lady Lions committed four errors, three of which came in
the fourth inning. Piedmont's only run came in the top of the fifth
as Megan Day recorded an RBI single.
Brooke Smith and
Marissa Harding led the offense going 2-5 respectively. Day, Michelle
Broderick and Michelle Crandall both added a hit apiece.
The loss drops PC
to 11-12 overall and an even 4-4 in the Great South Athletic Conference.
The women will take the field again on Saturday, March 24th as they
travel to North Greenville University in Tigerville, SC with the doubleheader
set to begin at 1:00.
