Team Falls To Rhodes 4-2
In a game that featured
only nine combined hits, the Piedmont College baseball team dropped
a two-run decision to visiting non-conference opponent Rhodes College
by the score of 4-2 tonight at Loudermilk Field. The Lions could only
muster five hits and a pair of runs in the defeat.
After the Lynx put
a single run up in the top of the second and fifth inning the Lions
answered in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI single from Zac Stein
plating Andy House from second. The Lions tied the game in the bottom
of the sixth inning as Matt Devito scored from third after Evan Nissley
was in a rundown between first and second.
The score remained
tied until the top of the eight when Rhodes scored the two eventual
game-winning runs on a single and a PC error. House led the Lions offense
going 2-3 with a walk and a run scored. Stan Brosko, Matt Devito, and
Zac Stein added a hit apiece.
The loss drops PC
to 8-11 overall. The Lions will return to action again tomorrow, March
17th as they host visting Methodist University at Loudermilk Field beginning
at 7:00.
