Team Wraps Up Spring Break Trip With Split At Ozarks
In its final doubleheader
of the 2007 Spring Break trip, the Piedmont College softball team split
a pair of games with host University of the Ozarks in Clarksville, AR
dropping game one 1-0 but rebounding to win game two 3-2. Meredith Ray
threw a pair of complete-games taking the loss and the victory on the
mound.
In the first game the Lady Lions allowed an earned run
in the bottom of the third which proved to be the game-winner. PC pounded
out 10 hits but could not push a run across to knot the score.
In game two the Lady Lions offense again was impressive
notching 13 hits and three earned runs. With the score tied 2-2 in the
top of the seventh Marissa Harding recorded the game-winning RBI with
a single to rightfield plating Megan Day.
On the afternoon
Day led the offense going 5-8 with an RBI and a run scored. Harding
went 3-6 on the day with a pair of RBI's while Meredith Ray went 3-6
as well. Piedmont now stands at 11-9 overall.
The Lady Lions will return to Great South Athletic Conference play again
on Saturday, March 17th as they travel to Maryville College in Maryville,
TN for a doubleheader beginning at 1:00.
