Softball
Team Splits Road Games At Hendrix
In its third doubleheader
in four days, the Piedmont College softball team split a doubleheader
with host Hendrix College in Conway, AR winning game one 8-0 but dropping
the second game 2-1. The Lady Lions exploded for eight earned runs on
nine hits and coasted to the run-rule game in the first but faltered
in game two and could only muster one run on six hits.
Meredith Ray went
the distance in game one throwing a four-hit shutout, her first of the
season. Megan Day led the offense going a perfect 3-3 with a walk, run
scored and an RBI. Emily Maxey went 2-3 with a pair of RBI's and Nicole
Payne chipped in with a pair of hits and an RBI.
In game two Michelle
Broderick took the loss despite going 4 2/3 innings allowing only two
earned runs while striking out three. Michelle Crandall led the offense
going 2-2 while Broderick chipped in with a pair of hits as well. Marissa
Harding recorded the Lady Lions only RBI with a sacrifice fly in the
sixth.
The split moves
PC to 10-7 overall. The Lady Lions will be back in action again tomorrow,
March 9th as they travel to the University of the Ozarks with first
pitch slated for 2:00 CST.
