Team Drops Pair Of Home Games
The Piedmont College
baseball team extended its losing streak to three games with a pair
of losses to #8 Marietta College 8-6 and Bridgewater College 3-0 today
at PC's Loudermilk Field. The Lions could only muster nine hits combined
in both games while allowing 18 hits and 11 runs.
Against Marietta,
the defending NCAA Division-III National Champions, the Lions took a
3-2 lead into the top of the eigth inning but the Pioneers responded
with five earned runs to take a 7-3 lead. PC answered with a three spot
of their own but allowed an unearned insurance run in the top of the
ninth and dropped the two-run decision.
Against Bridgewater
the Lions offensive was dormant as Piedmont could only scratch out three
hits while the Eagles pounded eight hits and three earned runs en route
to the victory. Corey Lindsey, Stan Brosko and Justin Vorherr notched
singles for PC.
The losses drop
Piedmont to 3-9 overall. The Lions will host Bridgewater College on
Thursday, March 8th at Loudermilk Field with game time scheduled for
1:00.
