PC Women's
Basketball Team Earns Share Of GSAC Regular-Season Championship
By going 10-2 in
conference play this season the Piedmont College women's basketball
team has earned a share of the Great South Athletic Conference regular-season
championship. The Lady Lions and Maryville College both went 10-2 in
conference action and split a pair of games against each other to earn
a share of the league's regular-season title.
For seeding purposes
in the upcoming GSAC tournament PC was awarded the top-seed based upon
their 2-0 record against #3 seeded Agnes Scott. The Lady Lions will
take on sixth-seeded LaGrange College on Friday, February 21st in the
semifinals. Piedmont currently stands at 16-7 overall.
The regular-season co-championship marks the fourth title in the last
five years for the women's basketball team. The team's lone GSAC Tournament
championship came back in the 2001-02 season.
This year's GSAC Tournament champion earns the league's first-ever automatic
berth into the 2007 NCAA Division-III National Championship Tournament.
