Women's Tennis Team Falls In 2007 Season-Opener

In its first match of the season the 2007 Piedmont College women's tennis team fell to Great South Athletic Conference host Huntingdon College by the score of 8-1 in Montgomery AL. The Lady Lions could muster only one point in a doubles match as HC shutout Piedmont in all six singles matches.

The doubles team of Katie Buice and Stephanie Smith recorded a victory as the #3 doubles team by the score of 9-7. Tyler Baldonado and Mindy Pfeiffer fell in the #1 doubles slot by the score of 8-3 while Marlene Morris and Jenny Shane lost in the #2 doubles slot 8-2.

The Lady Lions were shutout in singles action with Huntingdon recording all six points. The loss drops Piedmont to 0-1 overall and 0-1 in the Great South Athletic Conference. The women will return to the court again on Thursday, February 20th as they travel to non-conference opponent North Georgia College and State University with first serve slated for 4:00.
