the tough luck no-decision going eight innings allowing only one earned
run while striking out three. B.J. Hampton picjed-up the victory pitching
the ninth inning allowing zero earned runs.
The teams traded
single runs in the first inning and Piedmont notched a pair of runs
in the seventh and a single run in the eighth. NC Wesleyan rallied in
the top of the ninth with three runs but the go ahead run was cut down
at the plate on Jared Moon's second ninth inning assist of the season.
After a strikeout
to start the bottom of the ninth Evan Nissley worked a full count walk
and advanced to second on a Matt Devito single. Stan Brosko then hit
an 0-1 fastball to rightfield for the game-winning RBI.
